The team is passionate about empowering athletes to reach their full potential by utilizing the most recent advancements in motion analysis, biomechanics, and data science.

Project Overview

Reboot Motion recognized the need to strengthen its brand and customer experience. They required a Product Strategy & Design Consultant to collaborate closely with the team in order to align customer needs with their objectives, effectively communicate their brand, and develop a roadmap that maximized the customer experience.

The problem

Professional sports coaches and biomechanists required a simple and efficient method for uploading game film to the Reboot platform to provide actionable biomechanic analysis to improve player momentum to move better and reduce the risk of injury.

My role

Lead Product Designer

As the Lead Product Designer, I combined product strategy, UX design, and UI design.

  • Analyzing market trends

  • Conducting user research

  • Create intuitive and visually appealing interfaces

  • Developing a strategic roadmap for product development

  • Ensuring the product meets user needs and aligns with business objectives

Challenges

  1. Develop a SaaS product that automates a multi-step manual process to free up time for leadership.

  2. Identify where the Reboots solution adds the most value within the user and customer journey.

  3. Create a platform with an experience that educates while delivering best-in-class player movement data.

Discovery

As a designer, I am always looking for new and efficient solutions to problems. We used Design Sprints for this project. This enables me to solve complex problems quickly and efficiently. Furthermore, this process allowed me to collaborate with my team to create products that met both the needs of the users and the business objectives.

Qualitative Research

We identified key stakeholders to interview to determine our target audience and identify their journey to gain empathy around the structure of their day to determine where we could add value. Ten stakeholders were interviewed in 2 days, spending about an hour with each. Based on the conversations, here are the key insights.

  • Interviews confirm how current and potential customers are finding Reboot Motion.

  • Interviews confirmed the need to develop a SaaS product to streamline the process.

  • Most coaches and biomechanists want to continue being educated.

  • Interviews confirmed how coaches are currently communicating with players and coaches.

Competitive Analysis

To understand how and what our competitors are doing in the market, we did an analysis that consisted of direct and indirect competitors.

Questions Answered:

  1. Who are direct competitors?

  2. Are some potential partners?

  3. Identify primary user flows.

  4. Communication Strategy.

  5. Pricing strategy.

Define

My primary focus as a designer is always creating products that meet the user's needs. To accomplish this, we used various user-centered design techniques to help identify and empathize with our users' problems.

Creating customer journey maps was one technique that allowed me to visualize the user's experience from beginning to end. We identified pain points and opportunities for improvement by mapping out the user's journey, which assisted in prioritizing features that would add value.

We also created personas, which assisted me in developing a thorough understanding of the user's motivations, needs, and behaviors. As a result, we were able to create products that were tailored to the user's specific needs and preferences.

As the Hitting coach, I instruct players on matters related to hitting, such as batting mechanics, plate discipline, and preparation. I leverage video footage to prepare hitters for opposing pitchers. Video also helps identify flaws or bad habits in a hitter’s approach. With all the tech available, I help hitters understand the data they are looking at so they don't get overwhelmed.

  • Understand how to communicate with each hitter (It's a mental game)

  • Find new drills to support the story that the data is telling.

  • Tracking drills and how the relate to outcomes.

  • Pair drills with hitters needs based on data.

In addition, the platform's collaborative features and prototyping capabilities allowed me to work efficiently and effectively with my team, resulting in a product that was not only visually appealing but also provided real value to our users.
